Meet Julie Munro
Julie specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing a variety of learning, mental health, and behavioral challenges. Julie obtained a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Psychology from Saint Mary’s University in 2008 and a Master’s Degree in School Psychology from Mount Saint Vincent University in 2013.
After Julie’s formal education, she practiced as a Clinical Interventionist with the Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention Program (EIBI) in Pictou County. EIBI is a provincial program that provides parent training and intervention using Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) approaches (Pivotal Response Treatment, Positive Behaviour Supports) in the home and day care settings of preschoolers diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In early 2015, Julie became a member of the Student Services team with the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education, where Julie has gained extensive experience conducting Psycho-educational Assessments. Combined experience from working in the education and mental health settings, she has also gained valuable experience conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments, providing behavioural intervention/counseling, and consultation.
Julie strongly believes that the key to student success is through meaningful relationships, that are built upon open and honest communication, collaboration, and support. Julie strives to build these types of relationships with clients and their families, as well as bridging gaps between home, school, and community agencies involved.
