About Emily Côté
I help kids, young people, and the people that love them understand their brains a little bit better. I provide assessments for learning differences and ADHD.
Hi, I’m Emily Côté
My job is to help you feel heard and understood as we work towards solutions
I have personal experience with learning disorders and ADHD. I understand what it feels like to be lost, confused, and unsure of how to help. The goal of my assessment is to help you find answers and solutions, and to do that I take a team approach. We will work together as I learn more about your child and your family, their strengths and challenges, and your questions. I take a big picture view of your child, including their past experiences, their interests, their social-emotional functioning, and their current needs. My goal at the end of the assessment is to make you feel like I truly understand your child.
What does an assessment look like with me?
Before the assessment, I will send you questionnaires to complete that help me to better understand what is going on. I will sit with you for about an hour on the day of the assessment to learn more about your questions and concerns. After we chat, I will spend the day with your child learning about them, from them. We may play some games until they are comfortable (I always have cards in my bag!) and then we’ll start doing some work. A few weeks after the assessment day, we will meet to review the results and next steps. I can also meet with your child to explain the results to them – many kids call me the “Brain Teacher” because explaining how their brains work is my favourite part of the job!
Please feel free to contact us to learn more about psychological assessments and the questions they can answer. I would love to help your family in any way I can.
Your child or teen can work through what they’re facing so they can achieve their full potential.
I’d be honored to work with you, your child, and your family. Contact me, and let’s see how I can help you and your child.
